The Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) Promotion Program was launched on 20 June 2019 in Sarwan Block of Deoghar District to strengthen farmers through collective action and organized market access. The program aims to increase farmers’ income by helping them work together, improve production, and sell their agricultural produce at fair market prices.
Under this program, farmers are mobilized and organized into Farmer Producer Organizations where they receive guidance on production, marketing, and financial linkages. The initiative also supports farmers in accessing credit, improving irrigation facilities, and expanding market opportunities. Through exhibitions and market connections, farmers are encouraged to promote and trade their agricultural products more effectively.
The program primarily benefits members of Farmer Producer Organizations, targeting around 2,500 farmers in the region. With the support of NABARD, the program also focuses on strengthening agricultural infrastructure and building the capacity of farmers to manage collective enterprises.
Through the collective efforts of farmers, the program aims to establish better irrigation systems, create sustainable markets for farm produce, and increase farmers’ income while improving the overall agricultural economy of the area.
